• A controller: an iPhone or iPad (iOS 16.4 or later) with Headwall.
• All of them on the same Wi-Fi network.

FAQ

How do I pair my phone?

Open the PHONE screen on the wall. It shows a QR code and a short code underneath. Scan the QR with Headwall, or type the code. You do this once — the phone remembers the wall.

Does it need the internet?

No. Headwall works entirely over the local network. It never contacts a server and keeps working if the connection to the outside world drops.

My phone can't find the wall.

Check the phone and the wall are on the same Wi-Fi — not a guest network. Some routers have "client isolation" or "AP isolation" that stops devices seeing each other; turn it off for the gym's network. If the wall is an Apple TV, Headwall TV must be open on screen: tvOS pauses apps in the background, and a paused app is invisible to the phone.

Can I have more than one screen?

Yes. From its own menu, an extra screen joins the head timer and mirrors it. Boxes and Apple TVs can mix; the one running the clock is the head timer, the rest follow.

Someone else took control of the timer.

Only one phone drives a wall at a time. When a new phone pairs, the previous one is told it was replaced. Scan the code again to take over.

Do I need the iPhone app?

With a Headwall box, no: scanning its QR with any phone camera opens a web controller in the browser. An Apple TV acting as the head timer needs the Headwall app.
